How time flies, [subscriber:firstname | default:reader]!

Here is your July issue of the GIFTLearning Newsletter!

"We have the capacity to author our own lives from a place of resourcefulness, creativity, and possibility".
It's a wrap! The Graduate Institute for Transformative Learning just wrapped up our participation at the 2019 AERO Conference. Two of GIFTLearning's core founders mentors, Brent Cameron and David Marshak (one of our featured faculty, see below), each received life-long achievements awards from AERO. With six mentors guiding conference sessions, we met with a number of inspirational innovators (also known as disruptors, or those in the messy middle) also looking to shake up and wake up the sleepy status quo, and we anticipate many inspirational discussions going forward. As we collect our thoughts and do a post-conference inventory, we will be writing more on that in our blog (and in the monthly newsletters) over the next few weeks and months.

Three highlights
  1. First, there are only 10 spots remaining at the Graduate Institute. If you know someone who is interested in pursuing a graduate degree void of lecture theaters and droning professors, get in touch! At the Graduate Institute, we center the courses around the learner.
  2. Second, we are offering a one-time course scholarship that can be applied against one's first course in the MA program. The first five to apply will receive priority consideration. The deadline for priority consideration is July 3rd.
  3. Third, besides a full MA degree in Transformative Learning offered through the Graduate Institute, we also offer certificate programs and a range of courses through the Transformative Learning Foundation, great for lifelong learners. Newly unveiled through the Foundation is a Practitioner's Certificate in Transformative Learning Communities. Additional upcoming courses being offered by us and like-minded programs are listed below.
Remember to follow us on our NEW Facebook page, and our NEW Twitter page, where we will always be posting the latest. You can also visit us on Youtube.

Transformative Learning Foundation Courses

Active Hope for Evolving Youngers, Olders, and Elders Facilitated by Constance Washburn
  • “Active Hope involves identifying the outcomes we hope for and then playing an active role in bringing them about. We can rise to the occasion with wisdom, courage, and care or we can shrink from the challenge…. Can we train ourselves to become more courageous, inspired, and connected?“ The next course runs from September 23 to November 11 (every second Monday for 1.5 hours, time to be determined). Course Fee: $135, for 6 interactive sessions.
Designing Your Elderhood
  • Facilitated by David Marshak (See Bio) is an online program that invites you to explore your identity and values as you leave your work life behind and enter this new stage of life. The next course runs from September 17 to October 15, and runs on Tuesday nights between 4:00 and 6:00 pm PDT, (7:00 and 9:00 pm EDT). Course Fee: $135, for 6 interactive sessions.

Other Courses

  • The Gnostic Centre is offering two online courses, which may interest you. The New Creation of the Self, with Ameeta Mehra starts on the 15th of July.
Course Description: "The Course explores attitudes, meditations, exercises and techniques to come in touch with one’s goals and aspirations on the mental, emotional, physical, psychic and spiritual level."
  • The second course the Gnostic Centre is offering is Empowering Relationships with Anuradha Agarwal, which starts on the July 8, 2019.
Course Description: "Relationships may empower us or they may disempower – either way, they exert a great power over the way we think, feel or behave, and who we become. Let us take some time to look at our most significant relationships. Let us spend time empowering our relationships and letting them empower us."
  • Starting September, there's a new round of the Ecosystems of Education Course. The deadline for registration is August 15, 2019, and the program begins with its first class on Sunday September 8, 2019. More details can be found online here.
Course Description: "At this time in history we are badly in need of a focus on the ecosystems of our lives. In truth, we are in need of a full paradigm shift and that starts with education. But we can't teach ABOUT a paradigm shift, standing in the old one or we simp[ly reinforce the known ways. We have to begin with truly shifting the educational paradigm. There are many ways to manifest that shift, but we have to begin with making the shift. That is what this course is about, and how it unfolds."
